WELL, WELL, WELL!

There are things in life that are better unseen, untouched, unsaid and certainly not re-visited. Case in point:

Being a member of facebook, I do what almost every other member does; I search for old friends. So, one day I decided to start with some of my old childhood classmates and began to search. One girl stood out in my mind as a good place to start. I found someone who fit the criteria and I sent her a message to see if in fact, it was the same person I had gone to school with; she was.

Her reply to my message was: “Well, well, well”! and ended with inviting me to meet her for coffee to “catch up”. That was quite a few months ago, maybe even a year or so. I am yet to take her up on the invitation.

She is not living in Louisville where we went to school together, but in my neighborhood here in Indiana. Although in some of the same classes, we had not run in the same crowd with the exception that she was the girlfriend of the boy who shortly thereafter fathered my first boy child (and a girl child some years later while married to his second wife)! In fact, it was through said girlfriend that I had met him. Well, well, well!

I have hesitated to re-establish contact with her since I am not sure what kind of situation I would be getting myself back into nor do I know what impressions and/or grudges she carries from years past since her response to my message seemed tinged with some sarcasm. I am not a coward; I just know that there are things better left alone. But, I do know where she is in case I change my mind.

Why did I bother to contact her in the first place? Morbid curiosity? Just to see if I could do it? To make sure she was well and happy? Who knows?

I have also contacted others out of my past with the same trepidation and left with the same feeling of “don’t go there” and “my God, what kind of an impression of myself was left with these people”? I’ll not lose any sleep over it since I gave it my best shot at the time and I certainly have nothing to hide.

But one thing surely was reaffirmed: No matter where you go, it’s a very small world!

MOVING AGAIN

Now that I have Richard at home on vacation for the next nine days (yay), I plan to use some of his muscle power to help me rearrange my bedroom (again). I have also asked him to come up with some new ideas about where to put my danged bed!

My choices of rearranging and the location of my bed are limited since one wall opens into my bathroom dressing area, one wall is behind the computer wall of my dining room (said computer is used at odd hours when sonny boy is home), one wall is occupied by the sliders to the balcony and the fourth wall is the über-thin firewall between me and my stay-up-all-night neighbors!

I can’t seem to avoid any of my neighbors’ obnoxious 2:00 a.m. cooking (burning food) odors or the cigarette smoke which seems to permeate the air 24/7. I did find a semi-sound deadening spot to place my bed but now I’m getting the above-mentioned annoyances which wake me at all hours of the morning anywhere from midnight to 6:00 a.m. and not necessarily from next door!

Since our building is a little over 8 years old, it must have settled enough to open up some pretty good ventilation cracks which are all aimed inside my condo instead of outside where they would do the most good. There’s nothing like waking up to the smell of burning food and second-hand smoke residue! Oh, and there is the garage under my bedroom and the occasional(?) garage door opener motor noise which is under my bed no matter where I put it.

Anyway, while awaiting Richard’s suggestions, I have made photo copies of Peaches’ head shots to use in a mostly black and white collage on the wall in my bedroom when all is said and done. I just print them on all-purpose paper stock and they look professional even though they are not glossy. Easy, no? I still need to get five 8 x 10 frames in black and will post a photo when the whole project is complete.

But don’t hold your breath. I’ll probably post them sometime in the unknown future just like I’ve been posting those promised great photos using Photo Shop which I haven’t even begun to learn yet!

What’s the hurry?

LOW DOWN ON THE SLOW DOWN

It’s not that things aren’t happening around here; it’s just taking the time to talk about them, write about them, well dang it; blog!

We have two people getting ready to start middle and high school next week, Joe just earned his degree and Erin was accepted into the Teacher Ed Program this Fall which allows her to be able to graduate in 1213. Is there more? You bet!

With all this coming and going, college, volunteering, honors classes, marching band, symphonic concerts, Girl Scouts, music lessons, granddaughter’s fund raising for the Pasadena trip for those in need as well as her co-founded organization’s collecting and distributing school supplies for schoolrooms in need keeps my head spinning (and I've probably left something out)! I don’t know how they find time to sleep let alone time for each other but they do!

So, if my posts are few and far between this Summer, it’s not that I don’t have anything to write about. I’m just trying to keep up!

I have one active and fantastic family! What more can I say?

I DID THE WORK; THEY GET THE PAY

I order my prescriptions on line from Walgreens. They usually send me an email when the prescriptions are ready for pick-up.

I ordered my diuretic Saturday to be picked up today by 1:00 pm. As of that time, I had not received the email so I went to their site to check on the status of my order and the prescription was not even on my list of medications; it had disappeared! I called the pharmacy.

Apparently, there were no more refills authorized so they called the doctor listed on the last refill authorization (a pitch-hitter for Dr. T) and she refused to authorize the refill! So, instead of calling me (yes they have my new phone number), they just put it aside and went about their business. My order fell through the proverbial crack.

I ended up telling them how to operate their pharmacy by asking them to call the doctor listed on previous refills (Dr. T) to get the danged authorization. Thank goodness my last pill was not to be taken until tomorrow morning so we still had time to get the refill completed.

I did the work; they get the pay.

I kept getting these “we are waiting for your insurance company to pay this claim” on a bill that was for lab work in March of this year. In addition this time, they had a footnote that I should call my insurance company to help get the payment expedited. What, their dialing finger broken?

I called Anthem to see why they had denied the claim and they told me they were waiting for an explanation of benefits from Medicare. Apparently, the service provider had not filed the claim with Medicare first (Medicare is primary) but filed it with Anthem only (my secondary carrier).

I then called the billing department at the service provider and after being in queue for 25 minutes, I finally got a human to look into my claim. Sure enough, they had not filed with Medicare and “will do so immediately”. Once again, my claim had fallen through the crack. And they wonder why they aren’t getting their invoices paid? If I had not worked with insurance claims when I was employed, I would still be going around in circles!

I did the work; they get the pay.
